Hi, I'm Torben, Associate Professor for Human-Computer Interaction at
Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, where I work on problems related to child-computer interaction, social computing, and education
with interdisciplinary academic and industrial professionals interested in HCI and design research.
I am the director of the Human eXperience Lab
My current research focuses on how people use interactive systems and how the design of new technologies can help users feel in control
of their behavior and experience new technologies in ways that support their needs.
Current projects explore the use of technology to support users in experiencing connectedness and belonging over distance,
and the role of technology in family life. In close collaboration with educators and local schools, we are also working on
interactive technologies that empower and support children as active participants in their own learning and exploration of
the world around them.
